| Rhythmic Patterns, Parameters Setting & Language Change |

The main goal of the project Rhythmic Patterns, Parameter Settings and Language Change is to model the relation between prosody and syntax in the process which led from Classical Portuguese to Modern European Portuguese.

The research is anchored in two of the most important topics in linguistic theory today:

  • What causes language change?
  • How does language change progress in time?

In the year 2005, the project begins its second phase, aiming at the consolidation and expansion of the advancements obtained since 1998.

The Tycho Brahe Project is associated to the USP Project Mathematics, Computation, Language and the Brain (MaCLinC)
